About Me

Denise Yapp is a designer and illustrator living in Stourbridge, West Midlands but is originally from Carmarthen in South West Wales. Drawing has always been a passion of hers and as a child, she spent all her free time drawing.

Denise worked on her foundation year at Dyfed College of Art and from there progressed to a BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Design. After leaving college, she worked freelance until she had time out for her family. Later on, she went back to university to study Botanical Illustration. During this time, she also worked part time at her local nursery to learn more about the plants and ended up staying in that industry, until she felt a creative void in her life that needed to be filled.

Initially, she started doing the occasional commission for family and friends but now, she is focusing on building up her portfolio, with a focus on both drawing for enjoyment and improving her skills. Pencils have always been her favourite medium as she loves the detail and accuracy that can be achieved.

Going forward, she hopes to be able to concentrate on her art full time.
